Hi- Am I missing something or is the expression pedal on a Boss ME50 always set at zero volume when fully back?!!! (when used as a volume control, obviously). Other Boss pedals like the GT5/8 etc can be set so the fully back postion is your normal playing volume so you can always increase the volume when you want but can easily go back to your set up volume.

I use a Boss ME50 also and that is what I have noticed also. If the pedal is full back and set as a volume pedal, then there is zero volume. Comes in real handy when tuning or when some patron out in the audience who's had to much to drink sneaks up and tries to play my guitar when I'm outside on break. What I do when I need a little boost for solos is to have an external line driver, let's say like an MXR micro amp stomp box. It doesn't color the sound..it just gives me a little boost when I need it. Also, you can program your lead patches with slightly more volume by using the write mode. I try and balance my lead sounds against my clean volume so as to give them slightly more volume, but in different situations I have found that the micro amp is much faster to adjust as there is only one knob to adjust, and I can do that with my foot (rubber cover on knob) and then wail away!
