Hi Guys,
Just wondering what is happening? It would appear that the 'Members Stage' board has disappeared!
As posters, and commenters in this section, which was really our only interest in this Forum, I can only assume that it is seen as being another 'incentive' or 'shove'! to push people into becoming paying members.
Both Sunny (my wife) and I have submitted both Mp3 and .mids of above average quality (after all - we are 'Pro's'), that were freely given to add to the catalogue that we can no longer access, or for members to use as they wish.
We are both members (without paying compulsory fees) of many Forums, where quality music is freely exchanged, and have always operated on the basis of 'give and take' and not to pay for anything on the internet, or even software.
Of course Glenn has costs to keep the site going, as do other webmasters, but I honestly feel that a 'take it or leave it' attitude is not the way to go. I am a 'Founder Member' of the busiest music Forum on the internet - YPKO (or Yamaha Personal Keyboard Owner). Our policy, in spite of heavy costs of such a big Forum, has been to keep it free. However -voluntary donations are encouraged, and for example - recently, I had a spare SW1000XG Sound card, which I auctioned on the site, and it raised 75 pounds for the Forum upkeep. Many members have made donations ranging from 5 pounds to 50 pounds (its all according to what a member can either afford, or want to pay.
As a 71 year old State Pensioner, on a miniscule pension of 146 pounds a week, with just the odd gig, I have to watch every penny - I can't afford any luxuries. I am not complaining, just stating facts. I have a roof over my head, food in the larder, and am warm. Most of all, I have my music, and a superb sense of humour which has kept me going all my life through many adversities.
Thanks everyone for your friendship during my (and Sunnys) membership of this Forum, several of you are also members of other forums we frequent, and to everyone else .... Nice Knowing you ... God Bless, and stay well.
Tony

Have spent 30 min's searching for the members stage before coming across tony's post was there anything to say it was being withdrawn or did i miss something.I was going to ask how to post onto the stage but it looks as if i now need not bother.Very sad that it has gone and i can only assume that some members will go as well, from reading members posts it would appear that a lot of them are on a pension and will not be able to afford to pay for the privilege . sad day for the forum

Hi all,
Tony you have unfortunately jumped the gun on this. The members stage is now available to all from bronze upwards. Apologies for the inconvenience but the forum is simply going through some changes so please bare with us during this time.
Just so everyone understands the only thing not available to other members (bronze and silver) is this section.
Everything else is still viewable to all members who contribute at least once a month.

I'm getting really confused ! Too many directed pathways to main sites, forum sites members sites. I t was so nice and simple earlier , it looks like "Red Tape" politics now, like in the Goverment dealings. Cant we just leave it simple ? Yes, finances are required to run a site like this, but maybe, donations will suffice instead of compulsory donations. Please guys, lets keep MidiMart simple and family like. I'm sure the feeling of goodness itself will bring in the donations. I'm pained by the recent developments. Tony has a very relevant submission and all this is upsetting. I feel I'm losing my family

Tone Deaf wrote....The members stage is exactly where it always has been.... And FREE to access. I am not shoving or pushing anyone into becoming GOLD members, everyone has freedom of choice. Any mp3's or midi's that have been submitted by yourself or sunny are exactly where the always have been. And still accessible to everyone with Bronze and above. Again, this is your choice. Other forums on the Internet are not OUR forum. This forum is different. Tried this, been there, got the T-shirt and video....... To no avail. Wow, even my dad doesn't get that much from the state.... I'm sure anyone on that amount (plus the odd gig) can save 50p per month.... 11 months, membership paid for.... This is very unfortunate Tone.... But again, your prerogative. But with actually posting in this area..... You have access to everything.... (Gold Member) - So complaining about being a Gold member seems a little contradictive.... Don't you think?

Hi Folks,
Thanks to an Email from Pat, I have come back in to the Forum to read the comments, etc.
Firstly, may I profusely appologise to Glen, and the staff for my outburst! Please note though, that other members above thought the same, when the 'Members Stage' went missing.!
I have made many friends in this Forum, and I was really 'wound up' when I saw the board was missing, and jumped - very wrongly - to the conclusions that I posted!
I had 3 emails from members asking me what the Forum was up to, as well as Pats kind one, explaining that it was a temporary thing whilst work was going on on the site.
I will try and bite my tongue, next time, and perhaps PM 'The Management' when (if ever!) something like this upsets me.
In recompense, and to cover my shame a little, I will now post a song I have just written on the 'Members Stage', and promise Glenn, that when I get my £200 Winter Fuel Allowance, I will make a 'Proper' Donation to the Forum.
Perhaps I am becoming a 'Cantankerous Old Fart' as I age, having been a very Happy, and 'Full of Fun' Guy all my life! ;D
Once again - Sorry Folks!
Tony

i know what it is like tony,i,m on a disability benefit, and like yourself have to watch every penny.but i cant stop making music.it is like a drug to me.my father played a piano, violin, trumpet and drums ,and my mother was a singer way back in the 40,s and 50,s.they are both gone now sadly, but i must of inherited something from their genes,as i cant stop playing or making music.like yourself when our fuel allowance comes,i will try and join as well.meanwhile i will try to keep you all entertained on the members stage. best wishes to all steve

Hi to all out there Perhaps in the future it would be prudent when removing a section of the forum for maintainance to post a small memo explaining what was happening
cheers allegro

just as a matter of interest glenn what does bronze entitle you to and the same for silver? we used to have a + with the number of posts reached ie: 1 for 100 2 for 200 etc, mind you i was on 400 but never got above +2? it all gets confusing when you change things ! and nobody tells you anything. the old brainbox aint as fast as it used to be,so be kind and explain to an old fuddy duddy! best regards steve

Hi to all out there Perhaps in the future it would be prudent when removing a section of the forum for maintainance to post a small memo explaining what was happening cheers allegro Good point. To be honest the issue with the members stage was really a non issue in the end but you are right in what you said and if we need to do anything similar again we will ensure everyone knows in advance. We do listen to members

Yes, business as usual, just as it should be It was only some essential revamping of the forum, is all. Again I'd like to apologise to anyone who was negatively affected in any way whatsoever during these necessary changes.
