It was also great to see Adam Gilchrist in form with the bat again. Not only was it the second fastest 100 in test history, his last 50 came off just 17 balls.

G'day everyone, the Aussies have just won back the Ashes ;D I agree with Guilty about Gilly, it was sensational to watch, and he was due for a big one. Lets hope that Warney can get his 700th wicket quickly, so everyone can enjoy the Boxing Day test. I'm sure Tony Greig can't wait to flog some Warney memorabilia! It was great to see Flintoff have a go, as he's a much better batsman when he plays his shots. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

G'day everyone, today the greatest bowler of all time has retired. Warney has no challenges left to conquer, and is moving on to greener pastures. I hope that the MCG is full to celebrate his great career, and that he gets his 700th wicket without too much trouble. At least this announcement has given a bit of life to the 4th test, as dead rubbers usually don't mean too much. Seasons greetings to everyone. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

The Boxing Day test starts shortly and showers are predicted. For the first time it will be televised live into Melbourne all day (instead of just the last session) and it's going to rain. That's stuffed up my plans for a barbeque and cricket on TV. Martyn, Warne and now McGrath..........who's next to retire?

G'day everyone, another test match, another poor batting display from the Poms. I know that the conditions suited bowling, but Pietersen needs to open the batting so that he has somebody left to bat with! If the weather remains kind, this one won't go past 4 days, and it may struggle to get past 3 days. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

Steve was right again......it didn't go past 3 days which left me 2 days of no cricket to watch. In fairness there were a few spirited individualistic performances from the England squad but the over all efforts was poor. I could use stronger language but I'll continue to show restraint in the face of this humiliation

G'day everyone, I've just got back from holidays and see that no one has spoken about the whitewash yet ;D It was good to see that three great test players knew when to leave the game, and not play on and be forced to retire. Lets hope that some young guys like Mitch Johnson and Cameron White can break into the team soon, and that Phil Jacques gets to open with Hayden. Unfortunately the Poms didn't show much resistance after Warney smashed them around. Lets hope that in the next Ashes series the Poms can show a bit more resilience, and make the Aussies fight a lot harder than this time I hope that everyone enjoyed a happy and healthy festive season, and best wishes to all for 2007. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

Hi Steve, England were simply humiliated by a far superior side - no excuses can take away from how well the Aussies played. England lost heart, 'tis true, but I don't think any team could have done much better against such a formidable force as the Australians. Shayne and the boys will be missed, except perhaps by the English, and you're right, they went at the right time - on a wonderful high. Well done to them. But Warney will still play County level cricket for Hampshire for the next two years, so still a chance to see the great man do his stuff

G'day Pat, It will be interesting to see if the Poms improve with Vaughan back as captain. I agree that the Aussies played as well as any side has in recent memory. I hope that the English team can improve, as it's one day performances have been ordinary recently. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

G'day everyone, finally England have won a cricket match They won even though they tried their best to stuff it up and lose to the Kiwis. Unfortunately this game showed just how far both sides are behind the Aussies. Surely the only things that could cause the Aussies any problems are complacency, or being sent in first on a dodgy pitch! Lets hope that the Poms and the Kiwis improve markedly on their efforts to date. Talk again soon, Big Steve.

G'day all, I'm sorry to say that I've lost all interest in the one day series To be truthful I lost interest a while ago like most others Anyway, the World Cup and AFL season aren't far away, so my sporting interest may be rekindled soon. Best wishes to everyone, Big Steve ;D

Big Steve....what can I say? I totally agree with you regarding the rest of this series. The world cup should be good and then we need to start a new thread titled "North Melbourne Football Club". We can get some followers from the UK etc, place a link to the Kangaroo's website and drum up some extra supporters (and members ) for our beloved club. I guess that's just wishful thinking but at least you and I can post our thoughts each week. OUT WE COME, OUT WE COME, OUT WE COME TO PLAY!

G'day Guilty, the North Melbourne Football Club Link is a good idea. It's a shame that we still have the board problems continuing. Ron Joseph raised issues to put pressure on Graham Duff, as about 1/2 of the board want him to resign. One of either Peter De Rauch or Graham Duff will eventually be forced from the board, but how long it will take for this to happen is anyone's guess I hope it is sorted out soon, or we'll start to resemble the rabble that is Carlton Talk again soon, Big Steve.
