This started off a a silly little problem and has just escalated. It started off when I noticed my 5.1 Creative Inspire speakers where only coming through two speakers, went to speaker settings drop down menu had disappeared so could not change their set up, eventually after updating drivers and trying to get the settings back to normal, I installed the software and reinstalled it again, now none of the software I had before will work, Media Source Player, Media Go, EAX, spoke to a technical help and they suggested downloading new drivers and updated media source players ect from creative as they would be better than what I had been using, but the newer versions don't seem to have the same functions as my old player and I can't get the effects to work, like Key changer and tempo changer, the media player version I had was 2.02.05 and you just pressed the effect button on the player and up came the effects menu, now I can't install my old version it just comes up as with error messages and just shuts down, and the newer version seems to be lacking these effects I liked to use, I just my old player and software back, any ideas? Jacqui

uninstall your soundcard altogether make sure all folders and files have gone.restart and then reinstall afresh.it has probably now got 2 sets of files conflicting with each other.download a program called revo uninstaller i think it,s freeware.this will look after the uninstall for any left over files, and delete them.it might sound drastic! but it will save you time in the long run. cheers steve

Thank you for the advice, Oldsage, and Tiny who sent me a private message. I actually did that, along with several other things, suggested by Creative support, but still could not get it working correctly, I eventually went for the drastic measure of backing up everything, re formating my hard drive and reinstalling windows again, it took a day getting everything back to normal again re: software etc, and I still have to put back my music and documents but, after a week of un-installing, reinstalling, downloading, updating it's a relief that it's all bck to normal and working great now, and I can move on to other things, like enjoying the internet, my music and especially Midi Mart and not pulling my hair out with frustration. Thanks Again Jacqui

one little tip for you,get yourself an external hard drive the same size or double the size of your computer.get yourself a drive copying program like norton ghost or there are quite a few,and do a drive clone.copy your hard drive complete to another. if you have a problem again which you cant sort out.just use the drive management program which cloned your drive, and copy everything back.it will then leave your hard drive as it was.saving a few headaches. PS dont forget to backup all new files first,as the other hard drive wont have them. cheers steve
