Hoping Paul can help with this! I have a PC with an Athlon 2600 processor with XP pro installed. I had it built about 3-4 years ago with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card installed, so that I could have my Yamaha DB50XG Daughterboard installed (needed sound card with a wave table header). This has all been working fine until this morning, now I get no sound at all. I've tried restoring to a point when I knew for certain that it was working, & also uninstalling/re-installing the hardware & drivers (using last available drivers downloaded from the net, as they no longer make this sound card). Any thoughts?

here's what i would do...... do a system restore to the last time you know it worked..... that may eliminate the software side.... if u do this and it works it means you've installed something the sound card doesn't like. Yopu may wanna uninstall and reinstall the card as well.

I've restored the system back to Saturday, I jknow it worked then, because I had just come back from holiday & was catching up on the forum. I've also uninstalled & re-installed the card. Normally, I would've expected one or both of these to cure the problem, but still no sound.

I had an auto update for my "sound card " and it caused a few problems.Check thru your recent updates and see if there are any likely suspects. Are your speakers turned on and still plugged in ?

Yup! I've even checked the speakers by plugging them into my MP3 player, I haven't had any updates for the sound card, but when I switched on again this morning, the system is telling me I don't have a sound card, it won't even play CDs. I'm going to take it in for repair today, so the next time I get online, it should be fixed, but thanks to everyone for trying to help.

Got my computer back, fortunately nothing too drastic. It seems that after 3 years my sound card & the PCI slot it was in decided they wanted a divorce, the engineer put the sound card into another slot & reloaded the drivers & now I'm back to full sound! Thanks again to everyone for their input.
