Hi Paul My floppy drive is not reading any floppies and I can't figure out why. When checked up it says the floppy drive is working properly, but I can't open any floppy and can't save The indicator light is perpetually on whether there is a disk inside or not When a disk is put in it says "pleaSe insert a disk into drive A Any advice will be much appreciated.

have you taken the drive out lately.......... or put a damaged floppy in.
only 2 things can do this......... reversed cable, or the read head is damaged

Hi Paul I think I might have reversed the connecting cable, as we were attaching a slave HD . The floppy drive is pretty new - about 8 months old and was working well till this happened. Do you think I'll need to change it ? What do you advise I should do ? Thank you for the diagnosis.

try reversing the cable on the floppy drive, it's a typical symptom, although rare....
i love these little PEADAM errors (PEADAM = Problem Exists Around Drive & Motherboard)
PS: Windows will always tell you that the drive is working properly....... it's their way or convincing you you have an infallible Operating System....... In real life, as we know, this is FAR from true ;D

Reversed wiring or throw away ? The latter of the 2 unfortunately!!!! the reverse wiring i am referring to is for a PC installed 3.5" floppy drive....... therefore does not apply to USB drives. so a throw away is best in this scenario thingyy (Just noticed the censorship on your name hahahahahaha)
