Has anyone noticed that effects seem very similar in sound. It just seems the only difference is the way they are programmed ,I have tried a few different ones and I find you have to play around with them to suit your needs I have not found a unit better or worse but it is nice to be able to program your unit with ease ,there is the build facter to consider but most are well made nowdays but now I just use my amp settings and I get a lovely tone when playing live my studio tone seems to take a while to get right but then I am using headphones .
Good luck with whatever effects you use .

Hey out there,
What are some good effects for acoustic guitars? I play mine thru a Fender amp but don't seem to get a true acoustic sound.

For practices, I put my acoustic directly into the PA.
The guitar (a Yamaha APX-9C) has a 3 band EQ - I drop the tops slightly and increase the bass (I don't like an acoustic that is too 'jangly'. On the mixer, everything is set to a zero bias, with a small amount of reverb.
On the other hand, for working, I recently bought an acoustic amp - definitely the way to go for a good acoustic sound from an amp. I got a Genz-Benz (100w solid state). I used it in a big hall recently, and it sounds great.
I also played my viola through it, using a Samson horn mic, as the amp has two channels. Both channels have a separate EQ, and a jack and balanced input. Rave, rave, rave...

I am looking for a good effects unit to give an electric guitar an "acoustic" sound.
Anyone able to recomend something?

Hi I use a Boss me50 the acoutic sim on that sounds good you have to play around to get the sound of your choice I use a little chorus and delay .One thing ro bear in mind you have to play around with effects try and get your own sound then your the only one happy with it.
Good Luck Mark

I've heard good reviews of the Boss unit elsewhere - might have to investigate further.
Many thanks.

I use the Zoom 504 II Acoustic and am very pleased with it. It is a discontinued item, but it does the job!
