Hi all, I'm thinking on buying a new amp, thought i'd ask some opinions before i part with some cash. I'm using a fender twin at the moment, unfortunately i've been having some problems with it and had it in and out of various amp repairers with no success. So i thought i would get a new one.I haven't bought an amp for a long time so i'm kinda out of touch as to what's out there.I know to replace the fender would cost a fair bit so i'm thinking on the cheaper end of the market. It would need to be a 2 x 12 combo, around about 100 watt. i've heard some good reports on marshall, but i haven't tried any so far.I've used peavey in the past so maybe that's a possibility. i'd appreciate any opinions or views on what you think would be a good buy. Thanks weeo

Hey weeo:
Actually, you can get a very nice Fender 2-12 combo for under $350 US. If you've been using a Fender all these years, how could you switch to anything else? Okay, it's true, I'm also a Fender guy.
The Fender Frontline Series amps have a combo very close to your Twin. Here's a description:
The Fender FM 212R Guitar Combo Amp is a solid-state combo amp worthy of the Fender nameplate. The FM 212R pumps a genuine 100W into 2 Fender Special Design 12" drivers. The versatile Drive/More Drive channel with a mid contour switch lets you dial in the right distortion for rock, punk, blues, or metal. The Clean channel speaks loud and clear in the best Fender tradition. Other niceties include spring reverb, black control panel, and chrome hardware. This guitar amp includes a 2-button footswitch and 5-year warranty.
I've played through this amp a few times at the local Guitar Center and it packs a lot of punch for the bucks, complete with Fender's good old spring reverb. On stage now I play through one of two Fender half-stacks that I own, one 4-12 bin powered by a Fender Roc-Pro 100W head and the other powered by a great Stage 100 DSP head, great thanks to its 17 effects and XLR outs. Both of those heads, by the way, are out of production.
Good luck in your search, but don't overlook the many great Fender products currently available.
