Old Gibsons never die, they just fade and go crinkly round the edges. Way back in the dark ages (about 1975/6) I bought a Gibson "The Paul", to replace my extremely heavy black Les Paul Custom. (It had to be the heaviest Les Paul I have ever picked up, I used to walk round with lop sided shoulders !! ). Over the years, I have only managed to track down three other The Pauls in the UK. Two of them I know are in Bristol. I realise this was never one of Gibsons finest guitars, being a budget (cost me £ 380.00 when I bought it), but it's done me proud all these years. Does any-one know of any other The Pauls that may be around in the UK or abroad. Interested to find out if any-one else bought one and what they think of it as a guitar. Regards, Lennon. PS. Still have the Gibson case you can drive a transit over. Any one remember that ad ?

Hi Rockabilly. Thanx for the tag regarding"The Les Paul" guitar on EBay. If only I had one of those. What I actually have is a "The Paul". Same basic shape as a Les Paul, but fractionally smaller and very much lighter in weight. The pick-up selector switch is not on the top horn,(a la Les Paul ) but slightly in front of the control knobs. I have seen on advertised somewhere, just wish I could remember where ! Stay cool my friend. Lennon.
