Hi Folks, been awol for quite a while but hopefully back in full flow now. Here's one for you............... On stage I use a Strat & a Yamaha (Acc/Elec) Both go through different effects boards. However only one of the boards has a built in tuner. The strat tunes no problem through this but the accoustic doesn't register at all. In fact the tuner simply displays "G" Am I completely dim or what answers on a postcard........ Cheers, Murph

i'm missing something here.... walk me thru what you do when u try to tune your acoustic...what's it pluggeg into. You state that the acoustic is plugged into a different effects box.... your not saying if your plugging the acoustic into the tuner.

Sorry if I confused you there Ironbaden.
Simply put, I can tune my Strat perfectly through my Boss ME50 (In built tuner) but the Accoustic/Electric shows "G" on the tuner when I try to do the same.
Cheers

here's a thought make sure the acoustic electric's tone is turned to the bassiest setting... like turning the tone pot down to zero on the strat... that might help. very odd tho... the ME50 should do the job. Very odd indeed....and also that the volume is max on acoustic electric

It's very importantant when tuning by this method that you damp all of the strings not being tuned. Acoustic strings, which, by vitue of the construction of the thing, vibrate in sympathy and electronic tuners are so sensative that that they pick up every thing including higher and lower harmonics and just about anything else that vibrates within cooee of the subject string - hope this helps - Nev

Check the battery in your acoustic, murph! Seriously though, my acoustic tunes most accurately using 12th fret harmonics rather than open strings. Try that.

If the tuner has a microphone reciever put tape over it, this will prevent it picking up audio from your acoustic. I assume you are plugging into the tuner.

Cheers for the tips folks, yes I am plugging into the ME50 to use the tuner. I do tend to dampen the other strings when I'm tuning & the battery is ok but I will carefully go through the whole process again tonight. Will keep you informed. Thanks again.

Hi Tyrone,
Personally it's far too involved for me...............I only put my strat through it for "rocky" sounds, normally presets which I've slightly tweaked. From memory, Bank 2 Prog 1. The only decent "country sound i think is Bank 5 Prog 2 if memory serves me correct. To be honest, I use an old Korg A5 on my acoustic as it has the most wonderful preset mix of Chorus & Reverb ideal for the country type stuff I do. I think if you really get into the "technical" side of equipment the ME 50 is probably a great tool that you can programme to do anything. Again personally I wanted something far simpler but hey ! for the money..............
What do you think ?

Hi guys, I have an ME50 which I bought because of all the positive reviews and its simplicity when changing settings on the fly i.e. in a live situation. Obviously you have to have the unit in manual mode and it then effectively becomes individual stomp boxes.

Hi Murphy I'm in between Hatfield and Potters Bar, near Welham Green. Stick with the ME50 it'll be worth it as it's a great little multi-effects.
