Hi Everyone,
I haven't bought a new guitar since 1989. Currently I have about four of them. I used to use my 1957 Gibson 225 at my gigs and it sounded pretty good. But I couldn't play anything past the 12th fret with any great tonal accuracy. Also, because it was becoming a rare vintage guitar I was getting leery about using it on stage. So I put it away and bought a 89 SRV sig Fender Stratocaster, thinking that if anything happened to it I could replace it. Not so. Because I bought the first run on this guitar I got it with some rare wood used on the fingerboard. Because of a ban on that wood they don't make the SRV strat with the same wood. So now, I'm stuck with another rare bird. I should add that this strat is very hard to play and it requires a lot of sweat and soul to get the thing to sing. SRV-I ain't. But it has that deep sound that a lot of other strats don't have. I don't like the whammy bar placed at the top of the guitar-it just feels weird and I can't get used to it-but I need it to play 'Stray CAt Strut' and 'Wicked Game'. However, I like the design of the case because you can put a lot of stuff in it like your pedals, lyric sheets, strap, cords, tuner, ipod, mini disc player, cds, mini discs. small flashlight, keys, request notes, rag, strings, capo. I couldn't do that with my Gibson case. Saves on lugging around another bag. Yes, I used to own a '57 strat but I'll save that story for another time.
Cheers everyone,
