Is it possible to purchase a keyboard that plays MP3s for backing track purposes? I have one that plays midi files, and does this extraordinarily well, but I'd be interested in finding a keyboard capable of playing both MP3 and midi (not simultaneously to essentially give me the best of both worlds, so to speak. Does such a keyboard exist?

Hi there emerald
The answer to you question is yes.I use a korg pa1x with a c d drive fitted i also have an m p 3 recorder built in to it, the c d player is ideal for playing music during the breaks. We do not work with m p 3's but it should be ideal for what you want. The korg by the way is an arranger keyboard.

Oooh la la, the pa1x is a beaut !!! Read the specs and write up on your link , Pat ... sure useful keyboard to own . Imagine playing back WAV CDs and Mp3s, and imagine recording your music directly to the CD ? Gosh, this is GOOD !! I can also picture the audience coming closer to see whether we are really singing . Checked out the pricing - 1800 Pounds !!!! That hurts (maybe not my heart as much as my wallet) Godfathers !!!!!! Where are you gone ?

The price does seem a little much but when you imagine the delight of playing such an instrument coupled with the additional ability of being able use full spec MP3s then it might well be worth the expense. My birthday is not till next March but it may come sooner this year
