I have recently purchased a Casion LK70s, very basic i know, and i has a smart media card slot. I have been trying to download Midi's onto the card but the keyboard says they are the wrong midi type. I know that there are 3 types of midi file 0, 1 and 2. And accordingg to my casio manual i need type 0 files. My question is how do i know if a file is type 0 when i download and if it isnt a type o how to i convert it ?
Best Regards
Simon

Hi Simon and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you are having trouble. The good news is that all non type 0 files can usually be converted to type 0 by using a software freely available on the net. Gnmidi is a good way to go, www.gnmidi.com/ for free demo models. But one of the best available , and absolutely free is Jazz (MIDI) Sequencer... This is a (FREE) full blown Midi Sequencer. and can be download from the main midimart site: www.midimart.net/pages/downloads.html

hi sdlangford i have a lk90,it,s not as basic as you might think.firstly when you put your smart media card in did you format it?use the function key,and with the yes/no,or plus /minus buttons scroll down to format.then click on the yes button, usually the plus one.this should create a folder on your card.place your midi files in this folder in format 0.these will now play.to access your songs press the card button.this will select the folder you have created and put your files in.if your e-mail is visible,i,ll send you one of my midi,s to try out oldsage

The Keyboard came with a smart media cart with 15 songs on already, i simply downloaded my new midi files into this folder i.e. casio. My email is s.d.langford@tesco.net. Would really like some help on this, very frustrating.

hi once again,if it is the original smart media provided by the keyboard,it will not let you write to the disc until you remove the small silver round tab on the side where the contacts are.they put this there to stop you adding to the card.i had the same prob until someone told me.just peel it off,and give it a clean,it will then let you add extra songs.if you are having probs getting smart media cards, try maplins who may have some left,or they do an adapter smart media to xd card, the sort you use in the camera,s.i use mine quite regularly without any probs. oldsage ps.the folder on the card should say casio md,place the midi files into this folder.

I don't have the LK70, but I do have the WK3700. As was suggested, make sure the SM card isn't write-protected. You might also want to get on one of the Casio forums for help, as well. If you want more information, let me know and I'll send it to you via private email.
