Question: Hi Cat, Can you explain to me why some of my midi's won't stop at the end they carry on for X amount of bars. They stop OK on Cakewalk and Van Basco's but not on my X1. Xd3 or my Okyweb. do I have to put in some kind of control number or what. can you help. Here's a song I recorded on the Ketron X1 for my intro song. Now it is 40 bars long but carries on to bar 65 on my equipment. G Answer: When a file continues to play it's a sure fire guarantee that there is some kind of data back there. That data can be anything from a note, or notes, that have been extended for multiple measures, If the note is a guitar note or a piano note the sound will decay and you wont' hear it playing but the data will still be there. Controllers or pitchbend or sysex or even markers can be thousands of measures back!! I saw none of these things in your file so I figured it could only be one thing, and I was right. There is a tempo change at 065:03:040 of 100.15 BPM Delete it and your file will stop playing where it is supposed to. Cat >^..^< Response: Thank you Cat, you're a ***** (STAR) I'll know what to do with any more like that

Hi Cat (from newbie), The other one that bugs my sequencer is when the 'hold' pedal is left on. It creates a track that goes on ad infinitum. Keep up the good work. You're the cat's whiskers! JohnG.

Oner thing tho that some people dont know is that often a file will play fine on the computer. None of these problems will show up till they play the file through a hardware module or keyboard. So, I always recommend for pros to make darn sure they play the file through the equipment they plan on using onstage long before they set foot onstage! And, if you get a new piece of equipment, you better play all for files as a test run before getting on stage and going , 'OOPS!" LOL

Good on ya Cat, What would Midimart and it's members do without you. And while I'm at it...thanks to ALL the people on the forum that go to the trouble of giving their time and advice when asked. This is a great place to be part of

============= Hi John, I guess you know why that happens, right? A sustain message ( Hold pedal) suspends all 'note off' messages in the track. So, the synth keeps right on 'playing' waiting for that note data to be completed with a note off message. Once you turn the pedal 'off' all note off messages now send.
Glad you remided me of that as that should have also been a part of my original reply. ( Shame on me! LOL!)
