Cat
I posted this on the main board, had one response, but cannot get it to work.
I use Cakewalk to edit / transpose file, then save them, and transfer them to a Laptop, via a memory stick.
Mostly, this works fine, but I now have a file, that when edited [Transposed, lyrics inserted, some Instruments changed etc ] plays in Vanbasco, but all Instruments are Piano only. The response on the main Board, suggested unticking sysx, in the Options / Global Tab.This I have done, loaded the file again, but same outcome.
Do you have any suggestions as to how this can be overcome.

Right, Jerry, BUT.... I also told you you have to remove the sysex re-set from the midi, did you do that? It's most likely the sysex that's causing the problem. Check each track for sysx and check for Sysx Banks in the midi and delete 'em. One other thing you might check; vanBasco can also reset to GM, check on the setup options in vanBasco and untick the re-set there if you have to. Cheers, Dave.

Many thanks indeed Dave...will try harder....its not that I doubted your response...just that Im very much a "non techie"....and its all by trial & error.
Will let you know how I get on.

Dave, Jerry got in touch with me via my jazzcat (at) midimart address. ( Which BTW is the best way to make sure I'll get the message and be able to help)
There was sysex found in parts of the file that he really didn't know where to look. It was really fouling up the file. It's all straightened up now. Cat >^..^<

Makes sense, Cat. Thanks for solving it, Jerry Mc seems like a lovely guy. He's a new artist, painting some nice Irish scenes. Have a look at his website, the link is under his avatar. Cheers, Dave.

You solved it for him Dave, but he didn't know it. LOL! He just didn't know where to kill off ALL of the sysex. BTW, I never saw the messages on the board. He sent me a PM and I fiddled with the file and figured out that the only thing that could be causing it was screwed up SysEx. I came back nosing around the boards to see what suggestions were given.
I went and nosed at Jerry's site. Very nice oil paintings!!
