I can't take full credit for how we handle freebies as I was taught that a long time ago by an old friend of mine who used to be our booking agent / road manager when I was out rockin & rollin' in spandex pants...LOL...hard to imagine...LOL....yeah spandex pants. Anyway, his theory was that people inherently are intrigued by confidence...not so much arrogance...and that the fact that you are already gigging establishes the fact that you're worthy of being hired. And then...throw in something free! You guys must be making lots of money. (he doesn't have to know how you're paying for it, let him wonder about it) Like I said, confidence and a warm, sincere approach has kept me busy for years....no brag...just fact.
