Hello Everyone
I know plenty of appropriate romantic songs for the love bitten and ofcourse we all sing Birthday songs with different accompaniments. "Congratulations" by Cliff Richard is the most worn out and misunderstood song I've ever played, but they all request it for occassions like "success in examinations", engagements, weddings at the cake cutting ceremony, promotions etc etc.. The lyrics are non consequential, only the title "Congratulations" must be heard !!
What are your suggestions for occassions like :
An Engagement ?
A Wedding ?
A Promotion ?
Success at the examinations ?
Welcoming to the party ?
Purchase of a new car ?
Purchase of a new house ?
Going away
Going abroad ?
Getting back to health after illness ?
Holy Communion ?
Getting a lucrative contract ?
etc etc etc etc etc

Songs like Leo Sayers "More than I can say" are requested for occassions like engagements, but we all know the lyrics aint appropriate, though the title sounds good.

It would be interesting to know how musicians around the world cater to these occassions
