You poor thing, my heart goes out to you.
I've been there and in a total panic when I thought I'd lost about five years work from my laptop. It's a painful experience isn't it? Fortunately for me I found a data recovery company that got 99% of it back but it cost me 400 smackers.
When you're back up and sorted then maybe the PC nerds among us can help you with some sort of backup procedure that you can implement on a regular basis. The trouble is you just don't think about these things until it happens to you. Then Ouch!
