Hi guys What is the currency you use in Ireland nowadays ? EUROS or POUND STERLING ? Are both used ?

The currency of Ireland is euro shyam. In northern ireland its sterling.

Before the Euro, the Irish Pound used to be called a "Punt".. An Irish friend told me it was because it rhymed with Bank Manager!

The currency may have changed but some bank managers, especially my own, are still looked at as punts ;D ;D ;D Shyam, Most shops here in the south of Ireland will accept Sterling but the main currency is the Euro. 12 countries in the European Union have so far adopted the euro but others are to follow in the years ahead. The UK will probably hold out the longest but eventually they will accept the inevitable

Explained perfectly pat, i wish it was still punt we were dealing in, money seemed to go further with it!!
England should keep on to sterling as long as they can!!
There is no identity anymore cos of the eurocrats in brussells!!

Hi Tubbs, I know what you mean but it seems we - the people - really have little say. Something will happen down the road so that the promised referendum for the British will never happen. Mind you, the euro is much handier for paying when travelling to mainland Europe from Ireland
