Last year I changed my ISP because they stopped providing access to the binaries groups, My new one has now done the same. Children of unmarried parents!!!

(start of rant) There are assorted reasons for this to be happening. What would seem to be obvious is the availability of copyrighted material through the binary groups. But from what has been discussed is the amount of bandwidth that is allocated. Used to be, you could download picture files with sizes to about 100k. MP3's to about 4,5,6, mgs. Now the usenet groups have high resolution videos. Even the major ISP's have trouble handling the large bandwidth demands.
Instead of dropping the binaries, a very poor solution to the problem, they could filter out large files sizes, types, and other criteria to fix the problem.
Best solution... go to "black fiber". Still amazes me the Japanese have had this technology and have been actively using it for years while the rest of the world remains in the stone age.
The U.S. providers "promised" we would have this technology.
Our tax dollars paid for it. So where is it?
(end of rant)
