Well we have come a long long way with technology in the last 300 years, we have electricity for one and cars, gadgets by the 1000's BUT..... Back in the early 1700's we used to have steam and steam organs. I don't really know if you have taken a look at most sequencer's but the principal of the 1700's barrel organ and steam organs applies today. If you go into step edit of most sequencer's (even professional one's like cubase) and take a close look at the notes entered. You may think they are sausages on lines (reminds me of that too), but no.... It is the card templates of 'old' steam organs. Templates with holes punched into them, long ones (long notes) short ones (short notes) and the positioning of the holes on the templates for steam organs are the pitch. The further to the left the higher the pitch. Hence different notes and different lengths. The step edit of most sequencer's is EXACTLY the same. Therefore with (automated) music, we have not progressed any further in the last 300 years.

Hi Glenn.
I have just checked this out on my sequencer, and wow. You are right.
If I turn my monitor 90' to the right, it's just like the cardboard templates you mention. I never even thought of this until you said (and I always thought technology was on the up).
I even set all the channels on one of your tracks to a Wurlitzer and lo and behold, just sounded like I was in the ballroom of Blackpool Tower (I know that is not a steam organ). But what a terrific sound.

What you guys forgot to mention is where that view is. ( It's the piano roll in case anyone's reading >smile< ) I still know a few people that use sequencers that only are editable from notation on the staff. I also know a few who have programs with piano roll view but didn't know what it's for. Cat >^..^<
