I used to double click on the user name and a prompt would show my sign in name. When I clicked on that my password would be filled in and all I had to do was choose the no. of hours I wanted to be logged in, but now , thanks to my recent re-formatting my C drive and re installing my OS, this automatic fill ins are not happening. Please help

Hi Shyam, I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your problem but am experiencing a similar thing myself with my hotmail sign in. No matter how many time I check the "remember my password" box I always have to type it in next time I try to log on to my mail account. It's only a small inconvenience but an annoying one nevertheless. No doubt someone who is far more computer literate than me will have the answer to both questions. Best regards, Roger

Shyam, If you've reformated your HDD then you need to newly "tell" your web browser to remember the log in details. If it doesn't offer to do this the first time you log in, then it's probably turned off in options/preferences, just enable it. The automatic log-in is a web browser function, not usually a function of the site. In Firefox it's under Options> Security> tick 'Remember passwords for sites". It's probably called Password Manager in Internet Explorer. Roger, I think that Hotmail has this function disabled as a default regardless of whether you tick "remember log-in". There is a work around, I just can't remember it right now! Google Hotmail Log In and you'll find it. Cheers, Dave.

Thanks for that Dave. I've just bought a new lap-top and am still trying to work my way round Vista. I must say so far I prefer XP pro but I'll keep persevering.
