I got replacement increment dials for my sequencers from an an electronics shop for 1/3 of the price from the company {Kawai}. It is fitted onto the component by a fly lead just unclip it and take it into the shop get them to run it on a meter and get one of an equivalent value..O tTry spraying it with CRC or WD 40.This gives it a new lease of life for a while.

Too bad I didn't see this a long time ago. I have 2 Roland SD-35s sitting here gathering dust. I don't see how any one would want such ancient technology though, The thing uses only uses 720 floppy disks and a Windows XP system won't even format those disks! You haver to have a Windoes 98 or earlier system!

basically what you do is go into the circuit board that has the play /pause button and using an ohmeter ,find the two contacts on the button that short together when you push the switch , solder a piece of wire to each contact and run them to a jack socket which you drill and fix to a an appropriate part of the cabinet. Next, find yourself a moment touch switch from any retailer and plug it in to the jack socket and every time you press it is the same as pushing the play/pause button on the front of the minidisc player Bigmike

A laptop is highly recommended since it plays nearly all types of files ( provided you install the necessary players of course but dont worry since most of them can be downloaded on the net for free ). Built-in sound module? no probs...the yamaha s-yxg50 or roland vsc sounds nearly as good as an external module and yes they too can be downloaded for free. Bulky and obviously heavy songbook? no worries...5,000 songs can fit in a single folder in a laptop, can be browsed at ease and no heavier than your regular accoustik guitar Floppy, MD, Midi, Mp3, VCD and now DVD files whats next? virtual reality music files??? the evolution of a performers' tools of the trade surely has gone a very very long way you reckon?

Latest Update!!!!!!!! Won the Roland MT330 on Wed auction on EBay so my friend will be chuffed I'm sure.....................never realised in the space of a couple of years how obsolete the midi players have become...............anyway thanks to all who contributed........ eventhough at times it drifted into the world of robots and air guitars lol ;D but thats what makes this such a great forum with views and opinions from everyone some helpful others controversial but hey its all about our deep rooted love for music and midi which goes hand in hand......Cheerz hooray for freeway!!! ;D

Hi there I use the lap top and XH works to edit the midi files then save them to play through a Yamaha MU90 R ....In the breaks I use a disco programme to play Mp3s . I like using midi because I can edit the key transpose the base etc or double the base if necessary also add EQ to certain instruments to give it a big fat sound . I also have the midi turn on and off the vocal echo or change the type through the song .... Very cool

Even a trial version would be good, I'm having my son's old lappie off him & I would like to experiment with these.
