If you mean a karaoke.kar file that you use in vanbasco, the answer is simply YES!!!
A .kar file is just a .mid file in disguise, cunning little things these .mid files, they will try to hide anywhere.
Just change the file extension. Load in your file into a media player (I use Windows Media Player 10) and save as .mid...... Dead easy.

Two questions Glenn How do you change a midi ending, say on a fade out, also how do you edit files in Media player 10, I thought that was a straight forward media player apart from the EQ.

Hi Jacqui.
First of all, I would say that 80% of fade outs have real endings underneath the fade.
To eliminate the fade... Load up your sequencer, select the track (instrument) you wish to edit and go to (usually called) events list....
At the very end of the track you will either see ctl 7 or ctl 11 (ctl=controller 7=volume and 11=velocity), delete all the 7 or 11 controller values. Do this for each instrument and fade out has gone.
If the track has a reasonable ending, you have done. But sometimes you need to create an ending, this can be very difficult if you have never sequenced before.
To the second question ---- You are exactly right, you can't edit midi in Media Player 10, but you can save files under a different ext. Hence load in a .kar and save as a .mid - The Karaoke file is now a midi file and can be edited in an editor or sequencer.
You learn something new every day!!!
