I grew up hearing and reading about this great man and his wonderful exploits as a mountaineer. An inspirational man.

For those of us who live in NZ the days since his death have been non stop radio and TV coverage culminating in a full state funeral - he was a national hero in NZ and admired by all for his many exploits - he actually grew up in a small town called Tuakau which is about half an hour away from where I live now. I doubt that there will ever be anyone quite like him again. Roy Waiuku NZ

Thanks Roy for that aditional insight into the great man. He was clearly an incredible inspiration to many people from all over the world.
A giant of a man, in every respect.

A great man and definitely the last great explorer of our time. Unfortunately I have yet to see a program on the television in memory of the great man. After all, he did a great many things besides climbing everest.
