An old mucker of mine passed away earlier in the week. Trevor Forbes was an outstanding talent. A brilliant (under-statement) guitarist whose sum total of what he achieved musically never came near to the talent he possessed. He battled to stay sober most of the time and thats not criticism, thats just how it was and that was Trevor. I haven't seen much of him for a few years and it wasn't a great shock to hear of his passing but still so sad. In another life he certainly would have been up there with the greats and I sincerely hope thats where he is now. Thanks for the good times.

What absolute devasting news this is Jimmy Forbesy was quite simply on a different plain to all guitarists,he was brilliant yea when he was drunk or high but when he was sober he was the king and as you will know thats is an under-statement. Like yourself i haven`t seen Trev for a few years now probably 3/4 but his talent was revered here on this Island I had the great pleasure of drumming with him in several bands and i might just put a few of the funny ones in memory lane Trevor was possessed with his own demons[not criticising him]and he fought against them for a long time but in the end they just caught him.I hope that he will now have found his peace and quiet.Like all the greats i`m tempted to say that we`ll never see his like again. Trevor you rest easy now and as Jamesy has said Thanx for the good times and the memories

Condolences for the loss of your friend.
Unfortunately many a great musician can succumb too much to alcohol and the effect on their quality of life is often quite devastating.
I have a friend, Francie Ryan, who was one of the most talented lead guitarists in these parts during the 80s but due to abuse of alcohol in the late 90s he is now one of the town's street drinkers. Some would call them winos.
I expect he'll pass away soon enough.

I endorse everything Weegeo and Pat have said and I can't help but wonder if we do enough to support colleagues who have been through hard times or just can't cope. It's certainly a difficult business we have chose to invest our lives in. I think the secret of it all is a solid, secure home life and a strong trusting woman to give support. I rely on such a woman. I understand it can be lonely for Sharon all the nights I am working, but it's my livelihood and it's the only way I know to make a living. We've a lots of good times together and maybe thats just what people like Forbesy missed out on. Just something and someone to look forward to and with.
