The great tenor succumbed to pancreatic cancer today. He may have joined the 'choir in the sky' however we will always have access to that wonderful voice. R I P Luciano Pavarotti.

I remember as a 13 year old football fanatic at Italia "90 hearing him sing Nessun Dorma, I was introduced to a totally unique style of singing which blew me away. He was the greatest Tenor I will ever have the great pleasure of hearing.

Your singing will never be forgotten

I was very saddened to hear this news. The best tenor i ever heard.
As kemo rightly says, after italia 90 he brought opera to a whole new audience.
In his younger days he could have made it as a soccer player too.
A man of many talents!!
R.I.P. Luciano.

What a terrible loss !! If I ever got drawn to Opera Singing it was only because I heard his powerful voice. Sheer Class . He'll never ever be forgotten. R.I.P.Pavarotti.

Hi Friends... I'd like to dedicate this song to the memory of Mr. Luciano Pavarotti. Sadly, the world lost one of it's most popular and spectacular voices this week, when he lost his long battle against pancreatic cancer. He will be missed, worldwide. Mr. Pavarotti was appreciated and loved all over the world, and although I am not an expert in the Opera genre, I first became his fan back in America, years ago. His voice, his wonderful sense of humour, and his way of endearing himself to his vast audiences made him a favorite, even to novices like myself. So, here is one of my favorite songs, originally written and recorded by Willie Nelson..... 'Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground' I hope it gives you listening pleasure... For those not familiar with the song, or its very poignant words, watch Willie perform it here uk.youtube.com/watch?v=x3DxVVfTifgBest wishes to all... SunnyH

From MSN News : Dateline 2200hrs 07 September 2007 Thousands of mourners have queued to pay their final respects to Luciano Pavarotti. The Italian tenor's body is lying in an open coffin at the cathedral in his home town of Modena, ahead of his funeral on Saturday. Dressed as if for a last performance in tuxedo and scarf, with rosary beads clasped in his hands, his velvet-lined casket is draped in a dark red veil. A child's crayon drawing sits in the midst of a bouquet of flowers behind the coffin. The 71-year-old singer had a four-year-old daughter, Alice, by second wife Nicoletta Mantovani. Crowds queued from dawn to file past the casket in hushed silence and to sign the books of condolence for the man dubbed "The Voice of Italy". Every mourner was handed a card containing a picture of a smiling Pavarotti and a short prayer. Shop windows around the city displayed photographs of the star, while newspaper headlines proclaimed: "The World Weeps For Pavarotti."

what a great loss in the music world to lose someone like pavarotti! May he rest in peace...I also loved to hear the great tenor Mario Lanza..he had not onkly a magnificient voice, bu also was very sprited and lived life to the fullest..when I took singin lessons I studided with a teacher who actually studided with MarioLanza..he said lanzas voice could actually make the chandeliers shake! What power!to bad they both had to die relatively young.....Rick and Kaye
