Dear Walter:
I hope you can help me here. The other day I set off for work leaving my husband in the house watching the TV as usual. I hadn't gone more than a few hundred yards down the road when my engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help.
When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was parading in front of the wardrobe mirror dressed in my underwear and high-heel shoes, and he was wearing my make up.
I am 32, my husband is 34 and we have been married for twelve years. When I confronted him, he tried to make out that he had dressed in my lingerie because he couldn't find his own underwear. But when I asked him about the make up, he broke down and admitted that he'd been wearing my clothes for six months. I told him to stop or I would leave him.
He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant.
I don't feel I can get through to him anymore. Can you please help?
Sincerely, Mrs. Sheila Lusk
Dear Sheila:
A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the jubilee clips holding the vacuum pipes onto the inlet manifold. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber.
I hope this helps.
Walter

Hi Stephanie,
Sorry, I don't see why this is supposed to be funny!
Walter did an excellent job of getting down to the heart of the problem of where the fault might lie.
What's the problem with having him as a personal advice column writer?
Hoping for enlightenment. JohnG.

Its funny because Walter didn't mention checking the fuel pump fuse, which is the first thing you need to check lol Larry

Hi Larry, How stupid of me! Now you mention that it's obvious. Suitably enlightened. JohnG. Hi Thingyy, Eh! Isn't it obvious that Walter's answer was perfectly acceptable? What's wrong with wearing women's underwear and makeup? Especially as he's suffering from low self-esteem. I personally think that his wife is being particularly unreasonable and overbearing under the circumstances. Personally I find that putting on my partner's stockings and suspender belt gives me a wonderful feeling of security especially when she's out of the house for long periods. Ouch, sorry about the pun. I really feel that making an unnecessary reference to my current domestic situation is uncalled for. I don't call you a member of the criminal classes do I? Think I'd better put a smiley in here just for safety. Okay, I accept I was pretty slow missing the obvious fuel pump fuse. My only excuse is that I'm not a car mechanic. JohnG.

And how I'd love to be on the Gold Coast of Australia right now it's b****y cold here! Stayed in the motel on Bribie Island a while back for a week whilst I was training people in the nearby satellite earthstation. It was early spring and the locals complained of the "cold" but it was heaven on earth for me. And BTW I know there are better places than Bribie Island. Spent a day going round the Glasshouse mountains too. Wonderful. (from an ex-colonial). All the best, JohnG. P.S. Thought everyone would get my first remark as being humourous intent without smilies. Glad LarryC did.

I know what cold is spent quite a bit of time working for the BPO in London having to srubbishe and salt the ice off man hole covers before we could get to the cables. Also worked for Wagon Litz in the Hoek Van Holland for a couple of years. Love it here on the Gold Coast should have came here years ago.

Hey thingyy, Did some work for 5 years for the same outfit but as a freelancer, only they'd renamed it BT but the time I got there. Most of it was in a complex on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, but I spent some time in their outfit in Stoke too, as well as at a number of their regional centres. D'you know the places I'm talkin' about? You must have spent some time climbing the masts at Stoke? Aaah! Milton Keynes, city of a thousand roundabouts, how I miss you so! Sob, sob. I should have moved to the sunshine coast while I had a chance. I guess I'm too old now? All the best, JohnG.
