Hi folks, just to let you know it is my first time on the forum after signing up on midimart a couple of weeks ago, i am 68 years young and a bit of a late starter with midifiles,i play a little guitar & sing as well, i am currently going solo around several aged care homes ,retirement type complexes & hostels giving hour long concerts doing a mixture of singalong, country, ballads & 60's music etc,i had been recently using a drum machine as backing but i am impressed with the midifiles so i have been teaching myself how to edit them on a cakewalk programe i have installed on my computer i am interested in any midifiles which would suit tis type of music.i also am able to turn them into mp3 format & thenplay them on an mp3 player, iam also looking for any tips on how to make the midis sound better, ihave heard there is a thing called a sound module but i'm not sure what this does. i am using a yamaha stagepass pa system which takes the vocal & guitar as well as a couple of extra channels for backing, anyway i wont bore you with to much detail. i have been living in Perth W Australia with my wife for the last 40years. best wishes to all the forum members & look forward to sharing ideas etc. Regards simmo123

Hi Simmo........
Glad to see you here.
If you are wondering the difference between a Sound Module and the PC sound card you are using, take a listen to the MP3 files in the Gold Members area compared with the original midi file on the main site....
The MP3's are exactly the same as the midi file but have been recorded through a Sound Module (Edirol SD-80)...

Welcome Simmo, I've posted to you on the other thread you started. But I just have to tell you that a MIDI file is not the same as an mp3. A midi file contains instructions to tell the hardware or software what notes to play. An mp3 file contains the actual sound of the h/w or s/w but compressed when compared to the original wav file. Naughty Glenn, I shall send him an extremely rude personal post shortly. Best regards, JohnG.
