Hi everyone as i am new to this site and midi could anyone explain the different midi formats and if their is any advantage in using either. I appologise if this has been covered in a previous thread if so just tell me and I'll have another look. regards George

In a nutshell George midi format 0 brings everything into 1 track and this will suit playback on most keyboards.
Midi format 1 will playback in a multitude of tracks 1 to ~, and as some keyboards will only playback 16 tracks this is obviously not a suitable format.
Software thats converts midis from format 1 to format 0 can be found as freeware for download on the net.
