Hi everyone,
Yet another relatively old oldie. (early 60s) I've had a few MIDI files by Minvec in the past and was very impressed with the quality. They sometimes had to be tweaked a little to get the best from my SW1000XG but that usually wasn't too difficult. I exclusively use XGworks version 3 to do all my sequencing as IMHO there is nothing better for XG editing. I use a little Edirol keyboard for data entry. My music PC still runs win98!
Why the sudden interest in more MIDIs? Well, my partner has a very fine singing voice and we're about to start gigging. It's my job to provide the backing tracks. So, I'm now the proud owner of a 2nd hand MU1000 and(!) an MU128 with various PLG cards within them. For those 'in-the-know' they include PF, DX, VL, AN & VH. Mostly bought via eBay. Other equipment includes a Mackie DFX mixer, the obligatory Shure mic and, soon to be added, a pair of Behringer active loudspeakers.
One think I'd be very interested to find out is what equipment the people in MidiMart use for sequencing their files. Perhaps the info's already on-site, in which case could you give me a URL please?
May I close by wishing MidiMart all the vary best and to the forum contributors and say "keep up the excellent work".
JohnG.

Thanks for the compliments John....
Yes there is a link somewhere about the equipment we use here at MidiMart, but blow-ed if I can find it....
Mainly I use "Rock Score" sheet music as not being a drummer or guitar player, this sheet music tells me where to hit the drums and bend the notes on guitar....
I play these in by hand (playing by ear hurts my head) on a slave keyboard (Yamaha) and the sound unit is a Edirol SD-80.
I then edit the tracks using either Cubase, Cakewalk or the Jazz Sequencer (Free on site) for little tweaks here and there.
Anyway, welcome to the forum my friend..... If you have any questions (keep them to yourself), Just holler..... We will ALL try to give you help....

Wow! Thanks all for your warm welcome. I hope that I'll be a nett contributor to the site. I started to use MIDI when the Atari ST first came out! I have a reasonable knowledge of most things XG having had an SW1000-XG from soon after they were launched in the UK. I've gradually added most of the PLG cards and a Kenton Plugstation to the setup and recently 2 sound modules (2nd hand) the MU128 and the MU1000 (not sold outside Japan). My profession was as a computer/telecoms protocol specialist, so MIDI is relatively simple compared to some of those. If I can help anyone decipher MIDI stuff I'm happy to give it a go. But then you've already got the sensational JazzCat (far better looking than me) so I expect to be redundant. Cheers all, JohnG.

Hi John A warm welcome from N.Ireland to you.I also started with an Atari ST. in those days it was more advenced than a PC as it had sound and midi ports.Like you I still use a Win98 PC with Cakewalk and a Roland Soft Synth for music and an XP PC for MS Flight Sim which is another interest of mine.I hope you enjoy MidiMart and the forum as much as I do. Have fun Alan...
