Hi, joined yesterday.Great site.Recently got more into midi stuff as our new band are using midis for backing.Never really got into my own midi programming..but would like to.Or at least work with midis such as those on this site.Currently have access to QY100 and QY700 sound modules. One of the biggest issues/probs I have is loading downloaded midis into the QY100 and very often all hell breaks loose.Instruments seem to be on different channels and im not always sure what im doing to get it right.!I have fixed some, more by luck than judgement.Anyone know of anything to use that can help examine midi headers so I can see what instructions are being sent etc , which im assuming has an impact on the QY module.Finding it all a bit of a mystery ! Thanks

Most Yamaha modules and keyboards use XG, but these files and most others are GM/GS. They can be changed to suite your instruments with a good sequencer.... Try the FREE download of JazzWare MIDI Sequencer. From this you can alter everything you need to, instruments, pan, re-verb, tempo, key etc etc..... This is also a good learning sequencer for the beginner, very easy to use and get to grips with.... You can download it here Jazz midi Sequencer. and as you progress you may want to invest in one of the commercial available sequencers. Sonar, Cakewalk, Cubase etc..... Best of luck and welcome.

Hi boing.
A welcome from me to the forum as well. I agree wholeheartedly with Tiny's sentiments - you are amongst the best & friendliest forum around.
Take the time to check out the technical questions & how to's, a wealth of knowledge available there in the forum. It's where I go to when I have "issues".
Warren.

Maybe you need to look at the midi implementation info as you may need to use controllers 32 and 112 to get to some sound banks.

If you use Cakewalk or Powertracks, visit the download/patches sections on those sites, you'll find free downloads of Instrument Definition files (usually .ini or .ins or some such name). You will find definition files for your particular sound modules. Simply load 'em up as instructed, change the patches as desired and suddenly everything will make sense!

Hi Boing93 and Welcome! Make sure all midi files are in format 0 before loading them into the QY. That should solve the issue.
