Hi everyone! I'm new and where's Port Hope?? It's 75 miles east of Toronto, Ont, Canada. Glad I found this site. I've been playing keyboard for about 17 years now, in various bands. Prior to that, I did MIDI scores for a local theater group. Currently I play in two 50's-60's bands, a 40's Swing band, two blues bands and a duet using the Tyros II. My music partner and I have recorded 3 CD's which I did the backgrounds for on an old Korg M-1 and Roland Sound Canvas. That was nine years ago. I mainly freelance, as you can see from the band lists. I was kept busy last year with 44 gigs and so far this year I have 45 booked. Current gear: Tyros II, CP-33 Pro stage piano, Yorkville NX55 stage mains. I'm semi-retired and wish to become a full-time player. I've just recently re-tooled my studio with new monitors and an M-Audio Delta 1010 audio card, all held together with Cubase SE. I did have a Motif ES7 and PSR 3000 but traded them for the Tyros II. There may be the new Motif XS7 in my future, pending a WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) hearing! Thanks for having me!...........Lee

Thanks everyone!
These scores I did years ago were all done in Sequencer Plus (DOS). I'd be happy to upload the good ones once I have retrieved them from the old 386 (yikes!!). They are in .sng format and must be re-saved as MIDI format Type 0, then re-voiced to the Tyros II through Cubase SE, which is an enormous task. Perhaps spending time on newer stuff would be best. There are about 50 good tunes, including songs from Cats, Phantom of the Opera, City of Angels, Chess, Les Misirables, Chicago.......Lee

Thanks again everyone!
What are the rules regarding posting of background scores? What if we posted a MIDI score of known material by a famous artist? Are we in violation of any laws. What are the rules? My vocalist and I will be recording some hits soon. They will be done using the Tyros II, CP33 stage piano and acoustic guitar. They will be recorded in Cubase as audio tracks and then saved as .wav and mp3 files for posting. If we sell them as CD's we will approach the appropriate agencies regarding royalties, if needed.
We did a Christmas CD years ago and used four traditional songs. We only produced two hundred CD's but we still paid the royalties to SOCAN, as to not violate any laws. One of the songs was White Christmas. I did it as an instrumental.
Special high to you folks familiar with Port Hope. It's not often people know where this little place is...........Lee

There are no restrictions on posting any song by famous bands or otherwise, as long as it can't be used as a backing track. IE Your vocals recorded. (Not original band) If you are recording your own voice/s on a song, then please by all means - Post it/them on Members Stage where we all can have a listen.... As for posting midi files, there are no restrictions if they are public domain, if you have created the midi file yourself or have not paid a price for it, then please do post them.... The better alternative to this is to send them to me at MidiMart.net and let me check them first. If they are of good quality we will also place them on our main listings. If you are selling your songs (covers) on CD then please be sure to seek permission before you sell anything recorded by other persons. As royalties must be considered. Looking forward to hearing you on the Members Stage.
