Hi!
I'm a new member, from Washington state, USA. I used to make & record music, back in the day, i.e., with real instruments and tape. I recently got back into it, with GarageBand on my Mac Mini.
I do a lot of parodies. But I'm doing more original work, as I regain some confidence. I have a Shmoolie page, on Soundclick.
I use MidiMart sequences, Apple loops & an Emu Proteus MPS that I found at the Salvation Army.
BTW, if anyone knows about such things: the Proteus works as a midi keyboard controller. But the wheels don't do anything, and I can't get any audio output (except for a click, when plugging in headphones) or any midi access to the Proteus' hardware synthesizer. According to the LCD panel, it seems to respond appropriately to commands from all the buttons, jog wheel & keyboard. I've taken it apart & found nothing that appears to be disconnected, charred, or melted. There was a large amount of sticky soda pop on the bottom of the case. But it hadn't seemed to touch the electronics. Any suggestions?

Hi Shmoolie and welcome to the forum. We have many members from your neck of the wood, the States, so you are sure to feel right at home. Sorry I can't help you with your Proteus question, not my forte I'm afraid, but don't be discouraged as some of our more knowledgeable members should be able to offer some advice on the subject.

hi shmoolie i'm also into parodies and the backing tracks on this site don't half make life a lot easier. I'm in the process of completing one at the moment which I will be posting on the members stage soon. Anyway enough about me, a huge Scottish welcome to you and I hope you have many happy hours at the best midi site on the web. Bigmike
