Hi Everyone,
I'm not totally new to this site. I joined last summer and I don't think I ever really introduced myself. My name is Chris Haley and yes, I get a lot 'Bill Haley' comments. Good rock and roll name. Anyway, I live in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. I've been doing a single act for over twenty plus years. The site lists me as being in my sixties but I'm actually in my late 50's. I use an ipod with backing tracks, and an old Gibson 225 guitar through a 'Vibrolux' amp. The songs I do mostly are Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley. I also throw some new tunes in just so I don't date myself. When I say new tunes I mean anything from the 90's on up. The latest tune I learned was "This Love" by Maroon 5. So I like to mix things up a little bit.
I used to use a midi system with a sequencer and a sound
module but then last year I switched to using an ipod. Its a little easier to carry around and works great if you don't forget to charge it up before the gig. I still use my midi system at home for pre-production work. I just dump all my work on the ipod and away I go. One thing I like about this site is that some of its members are into Elvis and Roy Orbison so I don't feel like I'm the only one out there doing this stuff as a single. I've downloaded some good Orbison tunes from the site and used them at the venue with good results. Every once in awhiile I'll cruise the forums to see if anybody needs anything that I have. That's the cool thing about being older: I remember all those odd songs that some of the members are looking for. And I just might have it. If there is anything that some of you members would like to know I'm always open to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Civicman
