Hello everyone, I am a long time keyboard player, playing most weekends since the late 60's. I am trying to incorporate a few midi devices into my group's performances. I'm not really sure how best to go about it and would appreciate and pointers or advice. I recently tried using a Digitech Vocalist Workstation to supplement the two vocalists in the group. I was not pleased with the "robotic" voices that came out when I used a midi keyboard to pitch the notes I was enunciating into the mic. Has anyone had good results with this type of vocal enhancement? and input would be appreciated. If and when I work that out I would like to use some of the midi files I found on this site to expand our song list. My keyboards (EX-5 and Oberheim OB3) don't lend themselves to playback multi timbral songs. I guess that some type of outboard device would be best. Suggestions on inexpensive units would be appreciated. Thanx for the help and kudos to the proprietor and others who keep this board running. Well Done... Later, Xing

Hi Xing. The easiest way for you might be to transfer midi to either Mp3 or mini-disk for easy play back at gig. You could also use a laptop when playing but some report that can be a bit doggy, especially at lively venues where you don't have much space between you and the punters My keyboard plays midi files, so this isn't a concern for me. But I use to use the mini-disk approach with exceptional results. Welcome to the forum
