Hi everyone I am fairly new to the site but not to midi I play guitar and sing in a local duo called underfire from Stoke in the midlands. I have tried Cubase but found Cakewalk products more familiar to me so I use Sonar 5 and it does the job having taken over from my old Korg X3 keyboard. Still can't get my head around wave mapping to a midi note so I use VST plug ins. Regards To All Dave

Hi cutnrun...
Love the name, I must say that, many of our members are most imaginative and constructive with there login names. Take a look at the members list, there are quite a few very funny ones there.
I am based in Nottingham, not a million miles away from Stoke (as the crow flies) also in the midlands, or do they call us the east now. Things change so much these days.
I too am confused with wave mapping, I leave that to the experts. I just use the bog standard as many of us do. I use both Cakewalk and Sonar, I find one is easier on some things and the other easier on others. But most users can get away with just file players. Good for what they do, but lacking in the ability to alter files.
Again, welcome cutnrun.

Hi cutnrun (great name) Dead easy way to convert wave mapping to midi notes I use Cubase SX as my music package and VST's plug-ins. To convert wave into midi you need to have a VST sampler in your add-ons Load up your sampler by creating a midi track on the main page assign your output to sampler Cubase will assigin midi channel automaticly , load your wave into sampler you now should be able to play the wave through you mother keyboard via your fire-wire Hope this answers your question Good Luck & Peace to de eye ceedman ps stick with Cubase its a fine program

Hi Cutnrun.....you think you're confused. I have only owned a computer for about 2 years. Prior to that I sequenced with a sound module and a drum machine. (Sounds kind of primative). Now I simply dowmload files and perform basic edits with Cakewalk. As far as wave mapping to midi etc. I have NO idea. I shall log in to the forum more often and maybe learn a bit. (or should I say a LOT).
