Hi, does anyone know what might cause midi-files to stutter on playback in windows vista? I'm using the same PC as for XP, where my midifiles played OK.
Also, does anyone know of a Midi-player, with softsynth..(like Yamaha SYXG50), that will work with VISTA?

I havnt got vista but yamaha softsynth should work with any midiplayer if it has options to select which midi device your using. I think what you will have to do is get a player that works on vista then install yamaha softsynth and see if thats compatible with vista also.Or just install the yamaha softsynth and use its own player

Using XP I didn't encounter any such problems but frustratingly enough playing the midifiles with Windows Vista does cause things to stutter and as of yet I haven't found a solution. It is interesting to note however that not everyone who has upgraded experiences the same concerns.

As far as I'm aware, yamaha SYXG50 will not work under Vista. Personally, I'm leaving Vista alone for at least the next 12 months or until I see some positve reports about it!

It has some amazing things going for it but in all honesty this doesn't amount to much when you old stuff no longer works properly.

Personally I'm leaving XP alone until someone strips the bloat out of it! Who knows, maybe one day there'll be a viable alternative to Windoze. Then again, maybe pigs will fly. Yawn, back to sleep I go. ZZZzzz... JohnG.
