for some it is hard to post every 30 days and i feel it is un fair that we loose the right to certain areas of the forum. your files are good but will take my donations elsewhere for this inconvience.

Hi Gang,
Whilst I agree with 'T Carters' post that it is sometimes difficult to post something of interest or of use into the forum within 30 days for some of us (quantity vs quality !) - I just cannot condone his attitude.
Some folk in this world are 'takers' - who constantly decline to 'pay back' in any form for what they have recieved. As a 70 year old pensioner, I struggle each week to make my £140 (220 dollar) pension keep us, and at times think of sitting on a corner in the city with a placard round my neck 'wife and two German Shepherds to support'. (Everyone say 'Arrrhh'!)
In spite of this, I still devote one afternoon and two evenings a week to entertain old folks (some younger than me!) in residential homes free of charge as a 'payback' for all those years that my music has kept me in a nice home, well fed, 4 kids through University, etc, etc. Funny thing is, I get more pleasure from this than I ever did playing professionally in the past on Cruise ships, Hotel Complexes, Casino's, Clubs and Pubs. I would love to have the cash to 'upgrade' my old keyboards, Amp and speakers, etc - but hey! - they still work and sound OK, in spite of the fact that one of the keyboards is over 25 years old (my Yammie DX 7!) - my 9000 Pro is 7 years old, and has now been surpassed by the Tyros 1, and more recently the Tyros 2.
There must be a moral here somewhere, but I don't really know what it is. Perhaps it could be 'Be happy with what you have and be thankful - there are billions of folk in this world who have a lot less than me' !!!
Happy New Year Everyone!!
From, Your old Coffin Dodger - Tony
PS... - My New Year resolution this year is to keep breathing for the next 12 Months!

I agree with you Tony about attitudes, but the member has the right of freedom of speech..... This (AAA) type of membership has been set up to eliminate the Freeloaders. It only takes a few seconds a month to tell a joke or to create a new thread on his fave sport, he actually made a post at the top.... If any members have gripes, lets all have a say in our Debate board... There's another post for this member, if they want it. An introduction, an answer to a post.... I have created about 6 or 7 months of posting there for any member..... I'm sure they could think of one or two more... The same goes for members who say they haven't got time to post.... THEY HAVE TIME TO DOWNLOAD.... or post complaints.... Get a life guys..... Freeloaders..... Bah humbug....

Very well put Tone, attitude is everything in life. Glenn's observation on the posters using a post to say he can't post has me in hysterics

Well said Tony, and I hope you stick to your New years resolution .
Tcarter I hope you notice that your warning level has been reduced as a result of your post, and after one more post you would resume the AAA status and be able to access all areas.
Thats all it takes, a few minutes a month, surely it cant be that difficult in order to be able to access the great files and information offered by this site.
I have a full time job, and then am out gigging at nights, but I can still find time not only to post, but also to fulfil my duties as a moderator, and I do this because I am grateful for the help, support and friendship I have gained from the staff and members of this forum.
Come on Guys lets play ball !!!!

I was thinking along those lines, How can I post something worthwhile every 30 days? I'm not a musician nor do I know much about the discussions on the technical side. I do know that these midis can't be beat anywhere online, so I started looking at other ways to help. Check the downloads, make sure they play great, or see if I can post a link to a subject that may have already been covered. If there is enough effort it can be done, and at least it will show that you are still interested. Even if you don't post once every 30 days you can still get all the midis that you want from the general listed midis.

Read the first post on this list somewhere else at first and thought that it warranted no answer at all...but I must admit on reflection that I too, (shamefully) had this attitude at first when I heard about the "Must Post Command". I even suggested payments instead, thinking I wouldn't have the time to correspond on a regular basis. How wrong I was! Not only does it take very little time, but it actually can brighten up your day by getting certain things off your chest...Theraputic..(I'm pretty sure that's spelt wrong!). Maybe an "Agont Aunt" column next!!! Cheers, Rossi

Well, I got the warning letter too about losing status. Anyway, mine was the result of being on business travel for the past month and MIDI files just didn't percolate to the top of my list during that time (although, having finished the travels, I've spent a fair amount of time at the piano now to reduce my feeling of music deprivation). Anyway, I've posted to several topics of interest now, and while I originally griped the same as tcarter (privately, however), I'm fine with abiding with the rules of the board.
Peace to all.
- John

Rules are rules and there for a reason. It's got nothing to do with voluntary donations and I've not heard of many (if any) instances of getting something back for a donation. I've had warnings too for not posting so I just found something to post about, problem solved. How can a forum be run with silent lurkers? Kind of defeats the whole object of the excercise. The main site with its' vast catalogue of midi's and mp3's is totally free so you can have most of everything for almost nothing which seems like a worth while deal to me!

Hello Hello tcarter, dont get worked up. Peace brother...peace. Think of Midi Mart as one in your family. How would anyone in your family feel if you were to stay out of touch for one whole month ? Sad, I'm sure and upset too. We the members of Midi Mart would love to stay in touch with you even if its just once a month, so just write in and tell us how you are, whom you met at the last gig, what music you played. Tell us how you forgot to clean t your keyboard and how you got around doing it at the weekend and how it shone like new !!! Anything at all . anything at all, buddy. You'll find so many listeners here at the Forum. We need you Carter, so hang in there and keep us posted. Where are you from, Carter? Write in and tell us about yourself and your music . Cheers buddy ..... S M I L E
