Fellow Members,
When I received the PM from Glenn explaining his temporary absence from the Forum due to his recent loss, I had some thoughts & memories that I want to share with you, his friends & fellow muses. I apologize in advance if this post seems somewhat wordy or disjointed, but I have to express the following idea in my own way.
Over the past few years, I've lost both my Mother & my Brother after extended illnesses. On top of the intense emotional distress during this period, there were tremendous financial strains that had to be borne as well. I also remember being blessed by assistance in various forms by friends, loved ones & neighbors in the small community I grew up in. I also recollect we surviving family members requesting that lieu of flowers, folks make a donation to Mom's favorite cause.
I then thought that, until relatively recently, Glenn has carried this site financially on his own as a labor of love.
As my wheels continued to turn, I considered that most musicians are not megastars, accumulating enormous wealth & how an event, such as the loss of a loved one, can seriously strain an average budget. I also felt, from a different perspective, we are a "small community" ourselves. This led me to the idea I'm finally going to present.
Due to the sensitive nature of my proposal, I 1st contacted Pat and received his blessing to proceed. After waiting a few days to give Glenn a chance to grieve, I followed up with a, I hope, tactful approach to Glenn personally.
I asked Glenn to add a second header to MidiMart.com's Secure PayPal portal for the specific purpose of allowing we, his online friends in the music community, to bless and assist his family in this, their time of need. The following link is for contributions to help offset some of the financial demands of Glenn's families loss, NOT to support the main site. It is to be considered a Memorial Fund to honor Glenn's Mum and her efforts in nurturing MidiMart's founder.
Thank you all for your time and consideration,
Alan

[EDIT] = Can I thank each and everyone of you for your condolences and the donations to the memorial fund, I purchased a bouquet and placed each and every name on the card. This link is now closed and again - A BIG thank you.
