I think I have just one song with the authentic sound of the guitar in it...."Let it be" by the Beatles. I love the sound and I feel good using that Midi. I have yet to com across an authentic version of "I wanna break free" The synth guitar lead is just not as it should be. "Hotel California" has a pretty decent guitar solo too. Can we have a section where Midis with authentic guitar playing are available . Midi files, I'm sure can be made using synth guitars, is it possible to have a separate section with Midis having good lead guitar arrangements ? It would be GREAT to have a good guitarist in my (Midi) "band"

John (Steptoe) I'm sure your contribution will be appreciated by all. You are really fantastic and if I had your guitar interludes in my Midis, my audiences would go wild. I'm keeping my fingers crossed,

Shyam,
The problem is that the notes on a guitar don't ring in the same sequence as a piano. For example the guitar "G" cord in the down strum rings notes G-B-D-G-B-G and the up-strum would be the reverse.
I once had a keyboard player that I took some midi lessons from that could play the keyboard and make it sound just like a guitar, it was fantastic! He actually rolled his hands in a goofy fashion but the sound was incredible.
What we need is a programmer to put together software that will convert a piano score to a guitar structure....not sure that will ever happen.
I stopped playing guitar a few years ago and now play bass (single note instrument) fits my head better...not as confused!!!
Cheers

That cakewalk plugin on the main site works great!!! Iron, What plug in is that? In my opinion their site is very confusing and hard to get around on and if you do a search it's a junk yard. I'm eager to hear more about this plug. Roger

Thanks guys for all the info and thankk you oldsage for "I want to break free" I'll need to play it thro my keyboard to get the full effect of the piece - its not sounding too good on my PC, but I'm sure it'll behave itself on the keyboard. Thanks once again

Hey Shyam,
I'm like Steptoe(John). I play live guitar with my midi files. Now, there are some solos on the midi files that are so good, I end up playing rhythm guitar. Some folks in the audience know I'm not playing the solo, but for the most part, the audience is oblivious to what I'm doing. I have discovered that playing with midi files has really improved my timing and phrasing. Whereas playing with a live drummer, the tempo fluctuates (especially if the drummer gets excited), the midi file tempo is constant and forces me to hold back and phrase my notes more carefully. I recorded myself at a gig recently just to see if that was true, and lo and behold, it was. Of course, now I'm not jumping off speaker cabinets and doing splits in mid air like I did back in the day with all the other 80's heavy metal guitatrists. Perhaps that's why it's sounds more controlled. As far as authentic guitar sounds in midis, I would have to say that it's a combination of several things. Phrasing like a guitarist would....sound module capable of reproducing authentic guitar sounds....and finally the subtleties....string bends....glissandos....fret noise....I have a Kawai G-Mega sound module I run all my midi guitar tracks through. It is by far the best sounding module I have ever used for guitar.

Hi Charlie Playing live guitar over Midi tracks must sound good. Till now, we were a duo with two keyboards but my partner will be leaving for Australia shortly and I'm gonna miss him a lot cos he was truly professional and classy and we got along real fine. I got a replacement, but I need to gel with him. He's quite a good singer and he plays his Midi files thro his PSR 2100 and plays his guitar with it. So now, we are going to have 2 keyboards on stage - his PSR 2100 anmd my PSR 3000 and his guitar. How is this Kawai G-Mega ? Maybe I should tell him to get one ?
