Heres an area I could use advice in. That dead time between songs. You know, when the dancers are staying out on the floor waiting for the next song. Sometimes 10 or 15 seconds can feel like 10 minutes. What do you talk about to keep the crowd entertained while your loading up for next song. This is the thing I miss most about playing with a full band.

There are lots of things you can say. Tell the lady on the floor about her new hairstyle though she might not really have a new one, but it starts a conversation.Tell a couple they look good together, that they make a handsome pair. Just make conversation and get the next track ready. If you cant think of something just tell them plainly to hold on a sec till you sort the tracks out and.........tell them not to go away !!!!!!! Even that works .

What is most annoying is waiting for someone to flip thru a song book looks bad and is very unprofessional. Cakewalk set up with a 3 second delay in the song chain, with lyrics displayed, entension moniter screens installed in old speaker wedges also if in large band suituation.

Hey Thingyy,
Your reply to this thread said something about monitor screens in old speaker wedges. Man! that is so cool. I have been wondering how I was going to set up the girl singer's monitor screen and I think I'm gonna try that. Hopefully she'll be wearing her contacts so she can see the monitor screen from that distance, assuming of course, that the old monitor wedge is sitting on the floor.
Thanks!
Charlie
