Hi All, Now that we are a few months into the smoking ban I was wondering if you have experienced a drop in work. I work mainly in a 50 mile radius of Nottingham and I have not had a drop in work, but I have noticed a drop in audience numbers. What are your experiences.

The smoking ban has been over here for quite a while now shezza, at first i think it did affect audiences but it seems to be coming back to normal now, its like everything else, people just seem to adapt to it.

hey there guy's the no smoking in pubs has been here in N.Z since 2005 and after the initial backlash from the hardened smoker's people eventually got used to it and realised that they still had to go to the pub to enjoy good music. As for losing work i think that it didn't have to much of a negative affect .The upside of all this for me is i no longer get a raw feeling in my throat after a night in a really smoky bar and i have been able to give up smoking myself so it's had quite a positive effect for me personally.

I was totally anti the smoking ban (probably because I was a very heavy smoker). I have now totally changed my views, I have been able to kick the habit (nearly 5 months now), and it is so nice to go to a bar and not come out stinking of cigarettes.
All I can do now is apologise to all of those who had to suffer my billows of smoke for all those years.
I have not noticed any change in work levels or audience numbers as a result of the ban.

The Smoking Ban came into force here in England in the summertime, 1st July, so initially there was not much difference, but now the Winter is here I have noticed the numbers in the Clubs and Pubs are dropping, a few places that used to have Entertainment on Two nights a week, are now cutting it down to One night a week, and they are blaming it on The Smoking Ban, I've seen a few places close down, and also friends of mine Entertaining say there is not as much work around because of it, they have especially noticed a drop in bookings for next year 2008. I must admit as a Non Smoker it's been great to be able to sing without breathing in all the smoke, but I think clubs are paying the price now. One interesting thing I've seen happen in a few place I sing, is after the doors close, the ashtrays come out, , that's all I'm saying on that one Jacqui
