Dear Shyam,
I hope you and your family are well and out of harm's way. When I heard what happened in Mumbai, my first thought was hoping that you and your family were okay. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Shyam.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and concern . Yes, it really was terrible and shows how vulnerable all of us are to such mindless acts of violence. So many innocent lives have been lost All this has made me really really bitter against our politicians and I can't believe their insensitiveness and arrogant selfishness. I cant believe they were doing a blame game in the midst of a national tragedy. My blood boils when I see their conniving ugly faces and I dont think I'll ever cast my vote in the next Elections, but then I know thats not the thing to do. We all need to vote and bring in the right people, but are there any right people ? I'm confused. depressed and very angry.

Dear Shyam,
It's as well to remember that there is nothing that can be done to stop terrorist attacks unless one is in possession of the information well before the event. Even then if the terrorists are in another country it's almost impossible to get at them.
If the USA, with all it's technology, couldn't stop 9/11 then what chance does any other country have? Of course the politicians are dancing around like headless chickens, they are looking for someone to blame.
The only people to blame are the terrorists and even more so the evil men who brainwash the young people to commit such atrocities. It is time to stand firm WITH the government and to seek out the mad mullahs (hope I spelt that right), not the good ones, and stop them taking the disadvantaged and turning them into terrorists.
But it is just my point of view. JohnG.
You may think that I am speaking out of turn here , but my daughter was in the underground on July the 7th in London when the bombs went off. My birthday too. She was caught up in the chaos but fortunately wasn't on one of the bombed trains. I wasn't able to contact her until lunchtime that day. I spent the morning glued to the telly and trying to get through to her.
It wasn't Gordon Brown's fault that the bombs went off, nor the Labour Government's. The security services do the best they can but they are only human. And to be human means we make mistakes. God only knows I do.
My son was in Goa on holiday from the 15th and due to fly back from Mumbai on the 28th. Fortunately by then there were troops and police everywhere so he was okay, but worrying times nonetheless.
I genuinely wish you and India and Pakistan too an end to the craziness and atrocities.

I'm not blaming the Govt. for all this - the crazy Opposition is !! When political parties should be sitting together to discuss how to ward off such terrorist attacks and devicing ways and means to put a system in place, these fools are pointing fingers at each other with their eyes on the vote banks. UGH !!! I'm so happy to hear that your son returned home safely.
