Hi
My friend and I, 2 guitarist, doing a gig soon and we need help with this file. I lost the one we had a few yearss a go where we had the intro four count beat before the song starts.
I made a desperate attemtp to seach for that file and online to find one close to what we had but this file has only intro 1 count beat. I am no midi guru and my editing is very very limited. I learned how to add the intro beat in Powertrack which I tried to but I do not have the correct space to actually insert 3 more intro beats to this file. I do not know how to do this.
Anyone kind soul willing to help this desperate person? Please let me know how I can get that file over.
have to keep the drums as GM as my Edirol SD80 will not play XG files.
many Thanks Patrick

I'm the resident file editor here on MIDIMart. Just sent me the file and and I'll do what you need done.
Let me know if you want a 1, 3 count for the first nar and a 1,2,3,4 for ther second, or if you want strictly a 1,2,3,4 count on the first bar. Also, let me know what sound you want for the count in Sticks ( drumstics taping each other) or sidestick ( on the snare rim) or if you want closed hihat... or something else.
I can help you with any other goodies you need to do as well.
For my address just click on my name and you'll see it in my profile. Just be warned, I will be writing back form a completely different address then the one you will be writing to, so if you have spam filters set up you may need to check your spam folder for my reply. Cat >^..^<

Also Patrick If you want files converted between the two formats I can have a go for you. I have a stack of XG instruments and an SC8850. You never got back to me about the file that wouldn't play in your other message. I think I've got a pdf version of the SD80 manual somewhere so I can check what will work and what won't of the SysEx messages. I also have a little program called XGGSsysex decoder which translates the codes embedded in these messages into something more manageable. Between JazzCat and me we ought to be able to sort things out, but we need to see the files first. Best regards, JohnG.

Coming from a live band background in my younger days, diving into midi was and still is a challenge My editing skills are bare minimum. If I find a midi that we like, I just don't know how to tweak to sound nicer. All I know is to insert intro 4 beat and if there are issues with the actual programing of bar errors ie, 1 intro count and no more space to add 3 more, I'm stuffed Did I post about a file? I can't remember. My short term memory is shot too... I do ahve a few file with XG drums but won't play via SD80. How do I email them to you? Best Rgds Pat

Hi Pat, well you managed to email one to me and I've taken a quick look and what a weird file it is! There seem to be large sections where there is only drum and bass. But not XG, not a trace. I've added a GM reset and the beginning and I'd like you to play it again and see if there's an improvement. I think the previous file may have tweaked some settings and left the DS80 in a strange state. Anyway give it a shot and let me know. Expect a PM. JohnG. P.S. There's not much point me editing it any more if you decide you can't use it.
