Is it possible to copy part of the music staff in Cakewalk and paste it into a word document?
I want to email the music to a piano intro to a friend for an upcoming gig..
Thanks John

John, Why don't you just print it directly from CW? Open the Staff window, go to file menu, check the print preview then print. That doesn't really help if you want to email it. If this is the case; open the staff window, take a screen shot, save it somewhere and paste it into a word doc as an image. Cheers, Dave.

Thanks Dave As you say printing it out doesn't help and a screen shot is a bit messy. I don't think Cakewalk is the answer but surely there must be another programme that allows you to export or copy notation to a word document! Suppose I have an original riff that I have written and want to copy the music notation here to the Forum? It can't be done as far as I can see

Sorry to disagree but I've figured out that it CAN be done, John. I've been messing around with it and I have a very workable solution for you; Download a freeware utility called Cute PDF Writer from www.cutepdf.com (they also have a Pro version that you pay for but the freeware one works fine). Once Cute PDF Writer is installed on your pc it shows up as a "printer", it doesn't actually print anything, it simply saves whatever you have open (ie doc, txt etc) as a pdf doc in whatever location you choose. It works perfectly with the CW Staff and gives you an exact copy pdf doc of the staff window selected. Just open the CW Staff window, select print, choose cutepdf as the printer and, voila, a perfect pdf of the staff. You could then convert it to Word if you wanted but almost everyone has a PDF reader on their pc. Let me know if you need any help with it. Cheers, Dave.

Yes, Shyam, it's a great little utility. I discovered it when I need to convert some Word docs to pdf for a website. I'm always happy to help, let me know if you need anything in particular. Cheers, Dave.

I really have to give you points for trying Dave I gave the cutePDF a try and yes it will convert the notation to a PDF document, but if I save it a word document it only saves the writing, ie song title, instruments etc but not the actual notation (chicken s**t) I'll keep trying though. Thanks very much for your help Dave.... Cheers John

John, there is a way ! Use the select tool and select a page at a time. As soon as you do that it will automatically store it as a clipboard. Dont bother about that - let it do that Instead, right click on the selected page and choose the "copy selected graphic " function. Paste it on your Word Document and ......its done !!!

Yay, I did it! But not by the method you suggested Shyam. Though if you hadn't suggested the one you did I wouldn't have stumbled across the metod I ended up using I used the snapshot tool and highlighted the section I wanted and copied it into a wordpad document.
Thanks guys John
