Woe is me !!! My PSR 3000 is packing up !!! At first, the contrast control packed up and I had to use toothpicks to hold the contrast setting in place Next the microphone volume control packed up and the toothpicks came in handy again. The Registration keys are not working and the LEDs only light up occassionally. The music stand slot cracked and I had to stick the cracked plastic. NOW !!! (sob sob sob ) the display has got a yellow "stain" on it and its from the inside. Its a small mark but its irritating. Before any of you blame me for mishandling my PSR 3000, let me tell you I've looked after it like a baby and its well protected in my padded soft case and I transport it in my car's rear seat when I take it around. I can still play on it, use all the accompaniments and voices etc and the Smart card with my precious Midis still work beautifully. Why oh why is this happening ? I paid quite a packet for it and dont think I can afford to buy another one so soon. Its just 8 months old.!!

Hi Shyam The Keyboard has a twelve month guarantee. I would take it back to the shop and either demand a replacement. There is no way this should happen. If they offer a repair dont accept it.make as much noise in the shop as possible. They should soon help you out. let me know how you get on. Regards Mark

Shyam,
I agree with Mark, above. I would also copy this post into the Yamaha site, where Yamaha actually read the posts (you know where I mean!).
Your experience somewhat frightens me, as my wife (Sunny) is about to sell her lovely 9000 Pro (I will never ever sell mine!), and buy the replacement for the 3000 (the S900!) which will be on sale here in the next month or so.
Kind regards, friend,
Tony

Hi Mark and Tony I made a mistake - I bought the PSR 3000 IN May 2006 which means its over the Warranty period. However, I've written to Yamaha quoting the Product ID and the Serial No. and I await their reply.. On purchase I'd sent these details to register the keyboard. Tony, the Pro 9000 is a real good one and apart from its weight and size and lack of USB port and Smart card. its a superb keyboard. My friend, Elvis sold his here before going to Australia and he's now looking at a Tyros 2 there. I hear thats has a plastic body too. - Why oh why cant Yamaha use fibreglass to build the chassis ? I really am feeling depressed and I hope I can still use the PSR 3000 for my weekly gigs. My new partner, Bhanu boughtElvis' Pro 9000 so I guess I'm safe with him around !! It is scary, guys !!

It looks like I am at fault now. The Yamaha Service people here in India have now told me that I bought my PSR 3000 from an unauthorised retailer and that I own AN UNOFFICIALLY IMPORTED PRODUCT. I do not know now whether my PSR 3000 was made by Yamaha or not. I do not know who accepted my Registration when I e-mailed Yamaha with the serial nos etc. I want to know if Yamaha permits a second line of retailing. I want to know if my PSR 3000 IS A FAKE ? I know many friends with PSR 3000s and they look and perform the same. Were substandard or rejected parts used in my PSR 3000. If so, how were these fauty parts made available to these unauthorised retailers? I am now orphaned with a bum product from Yamaha and yes I am to blame because I looked for a bargain , but then again why does Yamaha encourage or tolerate multi pricing ? These are the questions I have addressed to Yamaha and I thought it would be interesting to our members to be aware of the goings on.

Hello, Rocky Here....
That is some pretty scary stuff considering that I have two of the 3000s and use them on the gigs. We play a lot and you know how tired everyone is breaking down.
I always try to be extra careful with the boards. Aside from some slight dings and scratches no problems as of yet.
I bought the first board from Musicians Friend and saved a couple of hundred. However, it was not worth the savings. When it arrived it had a pretty good crack on the left upper side.
I used a plastic square patch and covered it up. When I bought my second board I paid regular retail and no problems.
I have had in the past a SY-77 SY85 and two PSR 740s. All of these units were very heavy cases.
The 3000s are pretty delicate as far as the plastic. Other than that and the cheesy action they do very well and the voices are above average.
The only bad review that sounds close to your experience was due to a counterfeit product.
I think I would consider legal action with your seller for a refund and buy a new board from an good supplier.
Regards
Rocky
