Hi This is for the guys who play keyboards and sing. What ate the kind of microphone stands you use ? I used to use an old design flat based stand which used to pick up the vibrations from the stage and "boom" I used the threelegged mic stands which I feel are the better of the lot, but what I've done now is to fix it on the keyboard stand . This way I have it at reach, and I never forget to take it along. Its become a part of the keyboard stand.

I have always used a 'stand and boom' so that I can push the mic away easily, and have it as close to my big mouth as is needed. I have the stand to the side of the keyboard. Other than my Sony UHF Radio Mic, I swear by and have been using Shure SM 58s for many years!
Regards,
Tony

Hi Shyam
Like Tony I use a Shure SM58 (without switch) on a three legged boom stand which sits on the floor at the right hand end of the keyboard. I set the noise gate on my Tyros 1 at maximum so as to eliminate any unwanted sounds. I used to use a mike with a switch but every time I switched it on and off there was an almighty thud through the PA system!

Hi Tony and Mike, look at the link thingvy has sent. Thats exactly what I use and I adapted fittings from old mic stands along with the boom stand and ........ its exactly what's in thingvy's link. Very convenient and cannot be forgotten or misplaced and....... no one can "borrow" it. A warning though... be careful of someone accidently bumping into the other end of the rod - - - you might get a mouth full of microphone with teeth !!! OOOOOF !!!! As for the type of microphone I use - undoubtedly - SHURE SM58 and I have the sm58 and the sm58 Beta. No other mic will do. Thanks thingvy for the link - it saves me from sending a photo of what I use. BTW, what do you use ?

Hi there guys and gals I use an apex keyboard stand which has a microphone bracket built into the top of the stand. All you need do is fabricate a microphone extension bracket which can swing from left to right and clip it into the top of the keyboard stand. No messy stand legs cluttering up the stage

what are the head mikes like!? the ones that clip over your head like a set of headphones? could you get ones that are not wireless? these would give you a lot more freedom as the mike would always be in the right place,no matter how you move you,re head. steve

I have never used a headset but think the main problem would be when you wish to make a high note and pull away from the mic, it would travel with you and your voice would be very loud and some nights, you may not make the note quite as accurate as you wished and you will be unable to pull far enough away to hide your creaking strain. Have you considered an Angle Poise ?( it looks like a Doctors Lamp with Mic on the end) I have used one for years and provided you have somewhere to anchor it, I found it to be very easy to use and pack away in bag with cables. It all comes down to what suits you but food for thought.

Sorry, Ive no picture but will try and describe. I play 2 keyboards on an X Frame and to my left I have a mixer housed in a case. The case has an edge on which I place the housing for the angle poise. Suggest you look at following web sight for better idea of how to use it. www.studiospares.com ( under Microphone stands & supports ) Good Luck, Vic.
