Hello forum, I'm planning on recording a cover CD but, before I invest the time on doing it, I need to make sure that the authors of the songs/music get what is do to them... (ROYALTIES).
I did some homework already and here in the US most of what it needs to be done in similar case is to go through the Harry Fox Agency. My real question is that , I can't seem to find authors or publishing companies that hold the copyrights for a lot of these songs. Can't even find info on the original/actual CD. Checked BMI, ASCAP and anything about Copyrights on the Library of Congress website. Nada. Niente. Nothing.
Any information on this post is greatly appreciated.

this could be tricky.... it seems you've contacted most of the proper people.... can you tell me more.. such as... what tunes are you covering?

Hello ironbaden and sorry about the delay. I read your reply but, I had no chance to give you any info... I work nights. Since I'll be off the next 4 days, I have finally got a chance to give you some titles. Here it goes:
The artist singing this tune is Wynonie Harris
Fish Tail Blues (R. Toombs, H. Glover)
Next few are from a canadian artist, Colin James and they seem to be cover tunes
The Night is Young (Johnny Otis)
That's What You Do To Me (Unknown)
Surely (Uknown)
Where Y'At (Lloyd Price)
These are just a few. I have a list that I am not able to trace.
Any help is greatly appreciated

I've looked and looked and I can't seem to find any info. I've just emailed a local Hero.. Fred Lavery... Co-Owner of Lakewind studio here in eastern Camada... I'll let ya know what I find out!!

My Buddy Fred just emailed me back...... He said to check here www.cmrra.ca/default.htmI ran acouple of your requests and couldn't find them ..however it did allow me to send an email to them to research it. I found them all on the link you provided except for -fish tail blues- and -where y'at. I should have searched for music publishing in Canada since Colin James is a canadian singer.
I thank you for the time you have taken. It's greatly appreciated.
