Although unknown to many people, Ola Brunkert was a mainstay of the Abba sound, both live and in the studio. Behind his drumkit, he and bassist Rutger Gunnarrson were the only two session musicians to play on all of Abba's released output. It was he who you can hear holding down the beat on classics such as Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Waterloo.
Ola Brunkert died in an accident at his home in Spain last Sunday. He was 61. Rest in peace.
